Flames broke out early Saturday morning, leaving the building a burnt, gutted shell.
Firefighters from the Central Saanich Fire Department—located just across the roadway—were quick to get to the blaze at the corner of Keating Cross and West Saanich.
Saanich firefighters joined them.
“Crews arrived at 3:01am to a fire that was heavily involved in the basement, main floor, and attic,” Central Saanich Fire said in a social media post.
“Unfortunately, the building sustained significant damage.”
There were no injuries reported.
The restaurant will be closed until further notice, Garden Fork said in a social media post. “We are thankful that everyone is safe and would like to thank the firefighters and emergency responders for their quick response,” the post said.
The restaurant, which opened 10 months ago, has had previous incarnations, including Sassy’s and Smitty’s, and most recently, it was a Floyd's Diner.
